｜Artist statement｜
"This exhibition is the first in Hiroshima to display both lacquerware and objects.
After three and a half years of training, I learned how to paint lacquerware in Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture.
Using a technique called ``tetsu-rusu-nuri,'' which involves applying a layer of lacquer paste, the piece is created to have both the texture of lacquer and the texture of earth.
Lacquer is the wisdom to utilize the power of nature in daily life.
The lacquer process begins with collecting a drop of tree sap and takes shape over many years.
Some of the sap I used this time was collected by myself.
Not only my handiwork, but also the handiwork of woodcutters and brush makers in Aizu have created the ``lovely things'' that I want to deliver to everyone.
