20代の頃、大学卒業後も漠然と絵を描き続けていた。何のために描くのか、目的も信念もないまま、小さく閉じた世界観の中で無為な制作を繰り返し、自ら迷宮に入り込んでいた。
考えを整理するために訪れた、真冬の京都・太秦。以前から一度見たいと思っていた広隆寺の半跏思惟像を前にした。厳冬の雪が降る境内から霊宝殿へ入ると、他に拝観者のいない静かな空間に、その像は静かに佇んでいた。
像の前に引き寄せられるように立ったとき、空間が歪むような感覚に襲われた。それは、1200年にわたり人々が救いを求め続けてきた時間と空間を、過去の人々と共有した瞬間だった。
そのとき、自分の描くべきものを確信した。
時を超えるもの。
人の心に届くもの。
迷いが晴れた瞬間だった。それ以来、半跏思惟像は自身の道標となっている。
人の心に届く「何か」。その「何か」を追い求め、形にすることが、自らに課せられた使命であると考えている。

Concept
In my twenties, even after graduating from university, I continued to paint without a clear sense of purpose. Without knowing why I painted—without conviction or belief—I repeatedly engaged in futile production within a small, closed worldview, wandering deeper into a labyrinth of my own making.
In midwinter, I traveled to Uzumasa in Kyoto to sort out my thoughts. There, I stood before the Hanka Shiyui statue at Kōryū-ji Temple, a work I had long wished to see. Entering the Treasure Hall from the snow-covered temple grounds, I found the statue quietly standing in a still space with no other visitors present.
As I stood before it, drawn in almost involuntarily, I was overcome by a strange sensation, as if the space itself were distorting. It was a moment in which I shared, across time and space, the presence of those who had stood before the statue over the past 1,200 years seeking salvation.
At that instant, I knew what I needed to paint.
Something that transcends time.
Something that reaches the human heart.
It was the moment my doubts cleared. Since then, the Hanka Shiyui statue has served as my guidepost.
That “something” which touches the human heart—
I believe that pursuing and giving form to it is the mission entrusted to me.
